Stokes and Roslynn in the summer fog

Stokes is a 1977 grey gelding, 7/8ths thoroughbred, 1/8 Percheron. I have owned Stokes since he was 16 and he brought me back into the horse world after a 10 year hiatus due to university and career development. In his hay day, Stokes was an enthusiastic jumper and eventer, but I rode him for pleasure and to help me re-build my equestrian skills. At 25 he was still keen to fox hunt and there isn't a jump that he won't prick his ears for! These days though, he is retired and his main job is to mow the pasture, keep my mare company and enjoy the odd hack where he easily walks faster than my young mare!

Roslynn is a 1998 black mare. She is a Canadian/Standardbred cross. Her sire is a registered Canadian (Verseau Kosmos Tain # 5171), that stood at Ross Farm Museum in New Ross Nova Scotia. (This museum is a working heritage farm that raises and promotes rare/heritage animal breeds.) I have owned Roslynn since she was two and have enjoyed the thrills and acquiring skills needed to train a young horse. She has had a lot of basic flat work, an introduction to natural horsemanship and she loves to jump (at liberty!) but our main goal is for pleasure trails and to try our skills at driving. She has an awesome trot that would be magical in harness. Keep posted for new pictures this summer!

Rosette - practice time

Rosette is a 2001 AMHR/AMHA registered black mare. She was bred and born at Crockers Critters in Nova Scotia. Her sire is Long Shots Texas Lakota. I have owned Rosette since she was a yearling, she was broke to harness at age 3 and we have enjoyed several parades and small shows. This little mare is very keen with a heart as big as next week! She loves to go and her specialties are her big trot and her budding love for jumping (she could probably rival Stokes). We have big plans for Rosette this summer. Keep posted for new action pictures!

Jasper and Jennah

This pair of standard donkeys are full brother and sister born in 1999 and 2001 respectively. Their parents were sheep guardians against coyotes; we bought them as guardians for our goats and as pets. Donkeys are wonderful animals! They are intelligent, affectionate and very aware of what happens on their property. Both our donkeys lead very well and appreciate walks out on the beach and meeting people. For now they have the hard job of pasture ornaments, but as our driving skills improve, who knows, we may have a team next year.

NovaShire Tidewater's Tracker

"Radar" (pictured above at 10 weeks) is a registered Shetland Sheepdog bred by NovaShire Kennels near Halifax NS. This handsome little guy has a great disposition and loves his life at Tidewater Farm. Radar loves to run and is quite the jumper, he wishes he had the full time job of goat herder on the farm. Please click Novashire Kennels on our links page to learn more about this wonderful line of Shelties.

In Memory

In memory of Buster who sadly left us in October. We will miss his antics and funny tricks. There will never be another Buster.

In memory of Shasta, sadly missed after 16 years of faithful companionship. She was the most loyal friend a heart could ever know.
